市販薬（Over-the-Counter）販売時の薬局英会話

本シリーズ「薬局英会話」では、薬局・医療現場で役立つ英語表現を、スタッフ・患者の両視点から紹介しています。
第3回のテーマは、「OTC医薬品（市販薬）」。
処方せんがなくても購入できる薬について、症状を聞き取りながら適切な商品を提案し、用法をわかりやすく伝えることが求められる場面です。
🧑⚕️ スタッフ側の基本フレーズ
① What symptoms do you have?
→「どのような症状がありますか？」
② This is a non-prescription medicine.
→「これは処方せんなしで購入できる薬です」
③ This medicine is good for a runny nose and sneezing.
→「この薬は鼻水やくしゃみに効果があります」

👩⚕️ Staff:
Hello. What symptoms do you have today?
こんにちは。今日はどのような症状で来局されましたか？
🧑💼 Patient:
I have a headache and a slight fever. I’m looking for something I can take without a prescription.
頭痛と少し熱があります。処方せん無しで買える薬を探してるのですが。
👩⚕️ Staff:
We have this over-the-counter medicine for pain and fever.
Please take one tablet every 4 to 6 hours, but do not exceed four tablets a day.
Also, please let me know if you are currently taking any other medications.
解熱剤と痛み止めにはこのOTC医薬品はいかがでしょう。
4-6時間毎に1錠を服用してください。ただし1日に４錠以上服用しないようにしてください。

I’m taking medicine for high blood pressure. Is this safe?
現在は高血圧の薬を服用しています。一緒に服用しても大丈夫ですか？

But if you notice anything unusual, please stop taking it and contact a doctor.
原料を確認させてください。…そうですね、これは大丈夫です。
もし服用中にいつもと違う感じがしたら、服用を中止して医師に相談してください。
📚 解説：重要な英語表現と文法
① “What symptoms do you have?”
🟢 意味：「どのような症状がありますか？」
🔍 “symptom”は「症状」の意味。問診の第一歩でよく使います。
② “This is a non-prescription medicine.”
🟢 意味：「これは処方せんなしで買える薬です」
🔍 “non-prescription” は「市販薬（OTC）」の正式な表現。
